I would like to take a moment to thank all of you, our loyal followers of 3Sixty Management Services, through our newsletters, website, and Leadership Library podcast, to name a few of the areas of engagement, for your support and interaction.
We have had record interactions with the book “Tighten The Lug Nuts,” and we were recently recognized as the Best Cover in the Business category. Our leadership training programs are returning to pre-COVID levels of engagement, and we are signing companies for the 1st quarter 2025.
I am always thrilled and proud to be selected as a Keynote Speaker, and we have been gaining momentum through 2024 and into 2025. You can feel the optimism in the business sector, and I
enjoy spreading this energy, knowledge, and enthusiasm in my Keynote speeches and breakout sessions.
As we move into the New Year, there are some ingredients of success that will withstand the test of time and power you into 2025.
I have been truly fortunate throughout my career to have had the opportunity to work with, learn from, and mentor some incredible people. During my training sessions or Q&A after a Keynote, I often will get asked about these economic times, today’s job market, or simply for advice, encouragement, and suggestions.
As I think through my career and the many people I have encountered, they come from all walks of life, but they do have some traits, skills, and beliefs that make them more similar than dissimilar.
Like you, I am a lifelong learner who has been shaped and influenced by some outstanding people at all levels. So, let’s look at these traits, attributes, and skills and together we can build a skills inventory that you may want to use as you perform your SWOT analysis on yourself, preparing for a great 2025.
It starts with Values. It is what you do when no one is watching that counts. Integrity can often be used to describe this activity, but I would like to take it further: it is the integrity of your word as well as your actions. The integrity of our actions is something we can grasp and relate to. But what do I mean by integrity of your word? Simply put, you make a commitment to follow up on something, respond to a request, commit to an action, and you do!
The two fundamental ingredients of a successful person are hard work and enthusiasm. There is no substitute for Hard Work. The equation successful people use is…
Time + Effort + Enthusiasm = Results.
Enthusiasm is what fuels your drive and keeps the engine revving. Without Enthusiasm, your equation is time and hard work, and although these are two important ingredients to success, always remember hard work without enthusiasm is just that… HARD WORK. Hard work by itself gets old without enthusiasm. Another way to look at it is “Make it Fun, Make it Happen but Make it Happen.”
I believe we should all ask ourselves some key questions and answer them with a critical eye and with honesty of purpose.
*How can I add value in this current position and going forward?
*Do I have a process mind with a strategic vision and the ability to tactically execute the strategy?
*Can I develop a strategy, build a business plan, and execute that plan?
*Can I provide clear communication and walk the talk?
*Can I coach my teams to learn to take better control of their day and balance multiple priorities, measuring and following-up for continuous improvement?
*Do I accept the responsibility for my P&L and my results?
Finally, can I effectively assess:
Who am I?
What do I stand for, and
What will I never compromise?
Once you have answered these questions, you have set your Ethics and Integrity compass. It becomes your enduring purpose and your brand. You will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to your values, principles, and to your organization, along with business conduct policies. You will build trust, and it instills self-confidence in yourself through mutual respect and ongoing communication with the people in your care and the organization.
I like to model the start of a New Year after Steve Ventura’s best-selling “Start Right…Stay Right” book because it features behaviors that will lead to positive relationships, good results, and success on the job, and along with “Tighten The Lug Nuts,” is a powerful one-two punch to start the New Year.
True to our Balanced Leadership approach of Thinking like a Customer, Feeling like a Valuable Employee, and Acting like an Owner, acting like an owner will require a keen focus on:
Ownership – acting like an owner and taking ownership of your business plan.
Leadership – you must lead your people; you must model a new behavior.
Management – you need to manage your business plan, your daily operations reports, and your team like never before.
Accountability – there will be a heightened focus on accountability going forward. Corporate goals cannot be ignored, and business plans must be met. We must make good plans and manage them.
A successful business manager and leader must be an effective decision-maker. Leaders must make decisions; making decisions is a tough job. Those under a leader can make suggestions. Making suggestions is easy; everybody has a suggestion. Not everybody has a sound decision. Over the course of 2025, we want to focus on leadership. We will provide the vision to create this new climate for success for your teams and your company to empower the people in your care to move from suggestions to sound decisions.
You will then need to execute. You’ll do this by providing clear communication and walking the talk. You will need to learn to take better control of your day and balance multiple priorities,
measuring and following-up for continuous improvement, and accepting responsibility for your P&L.
Finally, as we head into 2025, it is important, necessary, and empowering that you demonstrate faith in your company, faith and belief in your people, and faith that your best days are ahead! Faith without commitment is a nice word; faith with commitment is powerful – and you should have faith in each other.
Given these tools, training, and the support of the leadership team, you will succeed – if you have the right mindset and a powerful commitment to your success and the success of your team.
I would like to extend to you, your team, and most importantly, your families and friends, a Wonderful Holiday Season and a Safe, Prosperous, and Happy New Year in 2025 and beyond. I welcome the opportunity to help in any way.

LOOKING TO BOOK A SPEAKER FOR YOUR NEXT EVENT?
Let’s work together. I am a practitioner as well as an educator and motivator, and an experienced senior leader and CEO with over 45 years of boots-on-the-ground experience. I led one of the largest rebranding initiatives in franchising history – The UPS Store, revolutionizing the $9 billion retail shipping and business services market.
I believe that none of us can achieve success without some help along the way. For each of us, there is a person, a mentor, who we are grateful towards and who can help us get to where we aspire to be. Sharing stories and experiences as a speaker is a way of recognizing the value of these experiences and giving back to the next generation of leaders. It also is a way of demonstrating in words and deed the value I am placing in mentorship. As for me, I have been fortunate to have worked with and mentored by some incredibly special people, and none more incredible than Coach John Wooden.
“Rocky was the Keynote Speaker at our FragilePak Connect Conference. His presentation on Balanced Leadership was educational, informative, and delivered with great energy and enthusiasm.
