I thought I would highlight some past episodes and topics that you may have missed as we go through the summer months and begin recording for season 9 launch around Labor Day.

Episode 66) A Father’s Legacy
• What a great way to be described as a leader.
• Hardworking, Loyal, Dedicated, Family Person,
• Thoughtful – those are words that could be used to describe my view of a leader.
• How would you like to be described?

Episode 68) Offer More Autonomy
Micromanagement and meddling can be the root of employee dissatisfaction and turnover.
• Micromanagers make their team members feel incompetent and powerless, which slowly chips away at self-worth and productivity.
• Understanding the psychological root of why an employee is craving a promotion is enough to give them what they’re looking for.
• A high-achieving person could be looking for an advancement in their career because deep down, they crave more autonomy.
• Empowered people want to manage themselves, make decisions and take ownership of their work void of a micromanaging boss.
• A good employee can manage themselves, their responsibilities, and their time effectively
• A person’s responsibility must equal their authority

Episode 70) Time Is A Precious Commodity
• Loosen the reins on the employees you trust. This will give them more autonomy, which gives them back personal time.
• More work-from-home days, less commuting time, fewer long meetings, an added week of vacation—these are all benefits you can consider.

• When your problems become the customers’ problems they just leave

Episode 74) Own The Disconnect
Actively Listen to Customer Needs: Consistently demonstrate to customers you are in tune with their needs and are operating in their best interest.
• Customers know what they want but may not always explain it in a manner which is clear to you. Therefore, it is important effective listening skills are utilized.
• If you do not understand a request, ask clear, positively articulated questions until you understand.
• Do not rush customers, allow them at their own pace to discuss what they need. Once customers have expressed their needs confirm your understanding with them to ensure communication is clear.

Episode 78) Don’t Be The Creator Of Chaos
• The whole team has a plan and is moving forward and then a supervisor walks in and completely changes course. The team then completely redirects their attention and energy in the new direction and scraps the work they’ve already completed, only for the boss to come in and change directions again. This is what I call “creating in chaos.”
• Chaos often happens from people who are indecisive or struggle to stay focused. The problem with this is that it affects timelines and often results in longer hours as a team is often starting from square one and on deadline.
• Chaos makes for a very unpredictable and unpleasant work environment. Employees are never able to properly balance work/life because they never know when chaos is going to be created. When it’s created at 3 pm on Wednesday and requires you to work late into the night, there goes dinner with your kids. When it happens at 4 pm on a Friday, there goes the weekend.

acquisitions that became UPS Supply Chain Solutions. I steered UPS’s entry into the health care industry and created the mantra, “It’s a patient, not a package. ®” With the ability to see a clear vision of the changing business landscape, the passion to develop strategies, tactics, and metrics to drive desired results, and the passion to develop the Best, The Brightest, Most Informed, and Best People in the industries they serve.
